The Embassy

The Australian Embassy in Spain advances Australia's foreign policy, defence and security, trade, investment and business interests in our accredited countries of Spain, Andorra and Equatorial Guinea.

As well as focusing on our political and economic relationships with these accredited countries, the Embassy in Madrid supports Australians in these countries by providing a consular service and some administrative functions. Contact the consular team via email.

The Australian Government also has an Honorary Consul based in Barcelona  to support aspects of our individual bilateral relationship, particularly with consular and passport assistance to Australian and permanent residents. To find more on the services the Honorary Consul is able to provide, please click here.

The Embassy team in Madrid includes representatives of:

  •  Austrade. As the Australian’s Government commercial and investment agency, Austrade aims at helping Australian companies develop in Spain and promoting tourism and education. It also provides legal advice to companies wishing to settle in Australia. Contact them via email.

  •  The Australian Department of Defence. Contact the team via email.

The Embassy’s activities in promoting broader awareness of Australia are managed by the Public Diplomacy and Communications team. We try to highlight why Australia matters, including advocating Australia as a great destination for tourism and education. We support Australian culture and promote Australia’s position as a positive global citizen – as a supporter of the international rules based order and global trade liberalisation and as a strong and trusted partner in the Indo-Pacific region. We do this in many ways, including through events, publications and collaborations with local and Australian partners. If you want to get in touch with the team, you can contact them via email.
